Over the past few years, we have offered discounts for friends scheduling barn days, referrals, and show specials. I have not been charging trip charges, although I have 142,000 miles on my 3yo car now and I never say no. If you need me, even for just one horse, I try to make it. I’ve spent a lot of money on equipment, the latest being the MagnaWave machine, which was $20,000 and I still haven’t raised my prices. But recently, there have been some questions about why I give discounts some time, but not others. So in an effort to clarify and be more consistent, the following are our current prices, and still have not changed.
(New) $50 per horse – Evaluation only - This is a full and thorough evaluation, using acupuncture points and motion palpation of each joint from their ears to their tail, and legs down to their hooves. I was doing this for free, but people are taking advantage of this service, and they wouldn’t be asking if they didn’t know something was wrong in the first place.
$100 per horse – Full Evaluation and Treatment - This includes all therapies. Each horse is different. I don’t set time-limits. Whatever they need, is what we do.
Barn-day Discounts – I appreciate the effort it takes to organize a barn day and for those who travel to meet me at those barns. If you’d like to schedule a barn day, please call me for details. The discounts depends on the distance I have to travel and how many horses you have to do.
Ex: We have one special lady who works her butt off to organize a perfect barn-day (sometimes two consecutive days) every couple months, she always has 15-20 horses for us to do. They all drive to her barn, which saves us travel-time. Most of the horses are repeat customers so they are easy to work on. She has them scheduled so nobody has to wait around, unless they want to stay and visit. In appreciation for their loyalty and regular maintenance program, I give them a discount.
But will I still come, even if you only have a couple horses? Of course, and no complaints, but I can’t give the same discounts.
Show Specials - Our show specials always include the full evaluation and treatment, plus free rechecks and Magnawave therapy every day, at no extra charge!
The worse thing you can do after a long haul, is run your horse, then throw him in a 10x10 stall for 23 hours, then repeat it again the next day. They get stiff and sore standing in the stalls, plus their not used to walking on rocks and concrete. But the horses we work on feel better and better each day. Our friends tell us they rest better, even lay down and get a good nights sleep, and then perform much better the next day.
We find working on them 2-3 days in a row, gives us the opportunity to make gentle adjustments along with relaxing massage, stretches, and MagnaWave therapy without making them sore. So instead of getting stiff and sore from the long haul, hard ground, and limited turnout, they get to “feel good”.
(New) $20 + $20 Referral Rewards – please share us with your friends! We appreciate your recommendations and would like to give back to those who help keep us busy. So for every new client you send to us, we’ll give you $20 off your next visit and $20 off your friend’s first visit. Just give them one of our business cards with your name on the back and tell them it’s worth $20 if they let us know you sent them. The way to get discounts, is to share us with your friends!!
Hardship Cases – for my regular clients only. Times are tough for all of us, if you’ve lost your job, or have an emergency, your horse shouldn’t suffer because of it. Catch me at a show or bring him to me and I’ll work on your horse for free, as long as you don’t abuse this offer. Ps: I think if you can afford entry fees, you can afford to pay for taking care of your horse.
FAQ
Should I have my horse worked on before they run?
Absolutely, yes. If they have a problem, I’d rather fix it first, then recheck it again after their run. We won’t do aggressive adjustments or deep massage prior to a race, but if we can help improve range of motion, they’ll work better! Then if they need more work, we’ll suggest a follow up appointment.
How often does a horse need to be worked on?
This depends on the horse. We don’t get a lot of repeat business. It’s the same as when I go to my chiropractor; if all I do is get an adjustment, and I don’t address the tight muscles that are holding and often causing the problem, then I’ll be right back for another adjustment in a week. Most of the time, one appointment is all that is needed and if you do the homework, as I show you, you can do your own maintenance. Plus by doing your homework, your horse will let you know when something is wrong.
After you feel what “GOOD” really feels like for your horse, you’ll know when their’s something wrong.
· Performance horses who work hard, may require more maintenance to keep them at their peak performance level. We recommend a recheck for performance horses every 3 months, unless they have a wreck or other injury, then call us immediately!
· Pleasure horses – once we get them adjusted, usually don’t need us again unless they have an accident or do something silly playing in the pasture. We recommend a recheck once a year.
· Prospects/Young horses – should be checked before they go to the trainer and after they come home. Also, don’t forget their teeth! They need their teeth checked before they get a bit, and once a year!
· Geriatrics/Retirees – usually every 6 months, especially when it gets cold. We appreciate those who care for their old guys… and we give special discounts for them!
What makes HORSEPOWER THERAPY different?
· Certified by IVAT and Dr. Peggy Fleming, DVM, AP, EC (3 yrs Equine Bodywork, Acupuncture, Homeopathy, and Alternative Therapies w/Dr. Fleming and many other Veterinary specialists from all over the world)
· Certified by NESH and Dr. Paul Herscu, (3 yrs Advanced Homeopathy w/Dr Herscu)
· MagnaWave Therapy – High Voltage Pulsed Electro-Magnetic Field Therapy. A $20,000 piece of equipment. Other therapists charge as much as we do, for just the Magnawave treatment. We include it free!
· Laser Therapy – we have a laser, which is great for healing wounds, and stimulating acupuncture points without using a needle. No extra charge, if needed.
· Percussor Massager – awesome deep penetrating massage, gets where my hands can’t reach and the horses love it. No extra charge, if needed.
· Electric Stimulator – used on specific acupuncture points to stimulate energy where needed, and can make a significant difference in stiff necks, back, shoulders, injuries and wounds.
· Saddle Fit – Tack Evaluation – Hoof Balance – Teeth – All things must be considered to achieve and maintain balance. We’ll help you and show you how to evaluate these things yourself and often suggest you follow up with your equine professionals (dentists, farrier, Veterinarian) when we find problems.
· All Inclusive! For the price of one of these therapies… you get them all! We’ve discovered that adjustments alone are not enough. Acupuncture alone is not enough. Massage, Percussor, Homeopathy and even the MagnaWave is just not enough as an exclusive therapy! But when combined, we are treating the whole horse and we’re seeing amazing results.
Where’d we go to school?
· IVAT – Institute of Veterinary Alternative Therapy in Dade City, FL. This is comprehensive 3 year course covering Equine Bodywork, Chiropractic, Osteopathy, Acupuncture, Chinese medicine and herbs, and Homeopathy. I recommend the school for someone who is serious about a career in caring for animals with alternative therapy and who is dedicated and self motivated to study hard!
· NESH – New England School of Homeopathy. Dr. Paul Herscu is Dr Fleming’s teacher. She invited him to come to her school for the past several years. His course is only available thru Dr. Fleming’s school in Florida.
· For more information, you can go to Dr. Fleming’s website: www.jadehorseherbals.com
